Truth be told, we make our living off of selling high end garage flooring and garage storage products. That is what we do. Every once in a while even I am surprised by what some people do to their garage! We carry products from garage floor mats to stainless steel garage storage cabinets. Some of our products are very affordable and some of them get pretty expensive. Recently we had a customer spend several thousand dollars on his garage. He purchased JNK Diamond garage floor tile, Hercke Stainless Steel Garage Storage cabinets, DiamondLife Diamond Plate trim and accessories, Handiwall slatwall wall storage panels and more.
Only kidding, I asked customer if he was married and he said he was. In fact, he has three kids. In a kidding manner I stated that he must have a very understanding wife to let him complete the ultimate garage –on top of what he purchased from us he also purchased a flat screen TV and some nice furniture. The response I got from my customer astonished me!
Our customer explained that we had saved him somewhere in the neighborhood of $30,000. He explained that do to the slumping economy they were having a hard time selling their house and they decided to take it off the market. With three kids they were quickly running out of room and they were considering adding an addition to the house.
“We simply had no place to play” explained our customer. His former playroom was now a bedroom and the Garage was loaded up with things that he no longer had room for in his house. “we added several overhead storage units and got as much of the junk of the floor as possible, then we took everything out of the garage, laid down your diamond read garage floor tile and went to work on cabinets and wall storage. Everything we needed to store in the garage is still there but now I can play pool, watch my flat screen TV and play rough with my boys in a safe environment that is more of a man cave then our addition would have ever been” continued our customer.
While I am not sure what the total was on all the invoices, this customer spent about $12,000 dollars with us. Even for a company like us that is a fairly large sale. It sounds like he spent another $3,000 plus on a TV and some furniture. The important part here is they saved having to hire a contractor to build an addition and that was over $30,000 (additional) in savings.
You don’t need to spend $12,000 to turn your garage from an overfilled Junk drawer to a well organized storage unit and man cave (or kid cave or family playroom). In fact you can put a decent floor down for just over $1,000. A few hundred dollars in wall storage will go a long way. Two overhead storage units can be under $200 depending on the type you select and for the man cave on a budget the Ultimate Garage Storage Cabinets make a nice addition. I would say that on a budget you could do a complete garage mancave for around $2,500 and have a high end man cave for about $5,000. Compare those prices to adding a room or finishing a basement and you will see an immediate savings
