When we got ready to open our new showroom, I decided that I would like to personally install the garage floor tile. Our New JNK Diamond and Coin tiles had been on the market for some time and I had not had the opportunity to install them.
Our showroom had a lot more corners, posts and odd-ball problems than you would expect to see in a standard garage. We had at least 10 areas that we had to custom cut (not trim) tile to fit. We were able to install about 550 Sq. Ft. of garage floor tile in 6 man-hours. The only tool we used was a Bosh Jig Saw with a laminate cutting blade. We also used our tile cutter for the straight cuts.
There were some additional concerns with the installation. The concrete sub-floor was a disaster. It has large holes, cracks and was very uneven. The floor itself sloped towards the center with several bumps and depressions. While we considered making costly repairs to the sub-floor, we felt this was the perfect opportunity to illustrate the ease, affordability and speed at which an ugly, cracked and uneven garage floor could be covered with our garage floor tile.
We simply laid our optional TPO underlayment down and installed our garage floor tile over the damaged concrete. No concrete repairs, fillers or other leveling was required. The garage floor tile stays quiet and locked with no problems.
