So you installed your garage floor (or maybe not) and now you are looking for an affordable garage storage solution. Perhaps garage storage cabinets are not in the budget yet or they take up to much room. Perhaps you already have cabinets but you are looking for a way to store those items that you use every day.

One mistake we made when we put Handiwall in our garage is we went overboard. You would thing being that I sell wall storage every day that I would not make that mistake. Unfortunately I did. I had a whole wall covered with the product and here is what I learned

Start the first panel at about the height of your knees. Continue up the wall and stop when you install a panel where you could not reach any higher to install a hook or basket. My personal experience and my experience from dealing with tens of thousands of customers indicates that people will not use the wall storage if they have to get a ladder (that’s what overhead garage storage is for) or if they have to bend down to far –not to mention that the slatwall does no good in areas where the hook would it the ceiling or the item you are trying to store sits on the floor. One more suggestion: Take the time to mark each and every stud in the area where you are going to install the panels and center the panels as best you can to get a screw as close to each edge of each panel.

One of the questions we get asked most often is what type of pattern and what type of product people should use in a garage that is used for more than just parking cars. Our customers want to know everything from what type of pattern they should use to if a garage floor mat or a garage floor tile or even an epoxy will best fit their needs.

We’ve used both garage floor mats and garage floor tiles without issues in workshop type environments. I think the choice between a mat and a tile is a matter of personal preference and I am hard pressed to find an absolute reason why someone should ALWAYS use one over the other.

I do believe that picking the proper garage floor pattern and even color is important. First, the concept of white garage flooring is something that blows me away. Most people would not consider putting white carpet in their kids room yet they consider white garage flooring in the garage –probably not the best idea. Our experience shows that the silver and grey do the best job of hiding dirt and debris.

If you are going to be rolling a toolbox, a chair or sliding underneath a car I recommend the coin pattern as my first choice. You could go with a smooth tile or Levant mat but that would leave some questions as to traction. The diamond tile looks sharp and when it comes to appearance is by far my favorite. If, however, you are constantly rolling items with a small wheel base, the diamond pattern tends to be a little loud and provide a little more ‘friction’ then the coin pattern garage flooring products.

The manufacturer did confirm that a percentage of the tile may have been made in Georgia but that almost all of the Dark grey had been made in China and they were not sure exactly how much of the other colors came from China. We were also able to confirm that the product is being discontinued and that is why the price is so low. Justin & Nicole Krauss Attended the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas Nevada during the week of May 4^th. While much of the time was spent meeting with existing vendors (to insure that we continue to bring the best quality products at the lowest possible prices) we also searched the convention for new and innovative garage flooring and garage storage products for our consumers.

We’ve found some new products that will launch this fall and greatly enhance your garage. In addition to products for the garage, we found some additional niche products that we will add to our existing line of niche home improvement products geared towards improving your home life!

One product which will be in stock in about a week is UGlu.  UGlu is a small strip that provided and instant powerful bond and no mess!  The best part of UGlu is that it can be easily repositioned. UGlu is great for the garage and great for other areas of the home. It bonds to almost anything and requires no drying time. The product is non-toxic and can be used to glue items that will be submerged.

We will be adding a full line of toolboxes including a special line of toolboxes that are geared to woman.  Additionally we will be adding a select group of tools that we believe to be a high quality tool line that you can’t purchase anywhere else.

We are also considering bringing in a line of high quality home furnishings. First, we need to decide if the line is of high enough quality and second we need to decide if it would be a distraction for our existing customer base.

Base Molding is an item often overlooked by those in the market for garage floor mats or garage floor tiles. While rubber garage base molding is very affordable (usually about $100 for the whole garage) many consumers simply overlook the necessity of the item.

According to Better Life Technology, a garage floor mat can shrink or expand substantially. That means that when you are installing a garage floor mat you need to leave a gap all the way around the perimeter of the mats. Rubber base molding can cover that gap and complete the look of your garage floor.

JNK Diamond & Coin Garage Floor tile have the same dilemma. As plastics expand and contract, we have to require a 1/4″ to 1/2″ gap around the perimeter. I think it is fair to say that after spending around $3 a square foot you would prefer not to have a gap showing at every edge of your garage. That is where rubber base molding comes in. At JNK Products, we only sell time tested, high quality garage floor tile. When we have a product that is a closeout garage floor tile we first make sure it is of adequate quality and then we market it as a closeout garage floor tile. We would never take somebody else’s closeout and market it as a new, commercial quality American Made Garage Floor Tile unless it was a Quality made in the USA garage floor tile. A garage tile that…. if it performs as advertised only holds 10,000 pounds and weighs less than 10 ounces is hardly a quality, tested garage floor tile.

We spent some time negotiating with the manufacturer of the tile. We cancelled the deal once we had received samples. That is our comittment to you: No matter how great the deal, no matter how large the competitive advantage and no matter how much money we can make on a garage floor tile, we will not bring it to market unless we believe it is good for our customers!

Before you order a less expensive garage floor tile request a sample. If the company is not confident enough in their tiles to send you two pieces THEN do not order that tile. At the same time order two quality garage floor tile samples such as our JNK Garage Floor Tile or Swisstrax garage floor tile. If once you have all of the tiles in your hand you decide its not worth the extra $400 for the better tiles then at least you have made an educated decision. Making a decision on garage flooring without receiving a sample is like deciding to buy a new car without taking it for a test drive!
